Hole 13 - Par 4

a panorama of Hole13 1

This short, downhill dogleg right four par is drivable with the distance and elevation change from the back tee. However, with the trees down the left side of the hole all play is forced to the left fairway landing zone. With the second shot short in length, similar to the starting hole on this nine hole loop, choosing what you as the player want for club in your hand for the approach is a great way to make your club selection for the tee shot. But, you must also consider that character of the short middle and long landing zone as if you are too short your ball will be pulled down to the right short of a large gapping bunker leaving a full bunker carry to the shallow green surface to the left and the deep green surface to the right. The more you play your shot down the landing zone towards the pine trees that turn the hole, the better the angle for the front pin locations. The putting surface is long and narrow leaving little room for error right or left. A grass hollow left of the green is not the best location to miss the green as you will not be able to spill the ball should you be short sided with a forward pin. A safer recovery is to middle of green. The bunker at the rear of the green should not come into play but the bunker does provide definition for the size of the green that falls away from middle to the back right edge of the putting surface. A par is a good score and bogey is easy to be had. Birdie will always leave you with a smile and you will most likely do better than most.
